Our
daughter, Joy, graduated from
Cedarville College in Ohio, with a
major in English and Technical
Writing. She went to work for IBM,
Lexington, KY, as a technical writer.
There she met Dirk (William Bruce)
Nicol, a Development Engineer in the
same company. Shortly after, IBM
transferred a group of their employees
to Durham, NC. Both of them were part
of the move.
Joy
and Dirk were married on September 7,
1997, in the chapel on Bald Head
Island, N.C. It was a marvelous event,
a celebration of family and friends.
Some of us stayed on the island a
week.
Currently
they make their home in Durham, North
Carolina, where Dirk continues to work
for IBM. The ir
life is full with their family, their
friends, their church and neighborhood
functions.
Joy has always been in
terested in health fields, and earned
her Master's degree in Public
Health/Nutrition, just in time for the
birth of their first son. Now she is a
very busy mom caring for our
grandsons, Lucas and Caleb.
Lucas
Cameron was born April 18, 2002. He is
a lively little boy who loves playing
ball, riding his bicycle, swimming...
Caleb
Bruce arrived on April 11, 2005.
Although he is normally quite happy,
trying to keep up with big brother can
be frustrating for both of them.:)
Our
son, Jonathan, graduated from
Tennessee Technological University
with a major in Mechanical
Engineering. Several members of our
family were there to celebrate with
him, and to meet his special friend,
Lisa Bartlett. She is a graduate of
Hope College in Holland, Michigan; and
was working in Chattanooga, where they
met through mutual friends.
Soon
after graduation, Jon began working
for Des-Case Corporation near
Nashville, Tennessee. They make
filters for hydraulic systems. He is
Director of Operations.
Family
and friends joined with them for their
wedding
on June 7, 2003, in Highlands, NC.
Darrel officiated in the celebration
in a little white church in the woods.
They
are now living in Hendersonville, TN.
Lisa works for University of Phoenix
in Nashville, as Director of
Operations.
They are active in
their church and enjoy sports such as
hiking, biking, snow boarding,
kyacking and rock climbing. Jon is
currently into kite surfing. Lisa
participates as his cheering section.
